Despite a massive search effort and national media coverage, Kirsten's whereabouts remain unknown.

The argument, while not fully understood, seemed to be the catalyst for what would be a fateful decision. Around 1:58 a.m. on January 2, 2021, surveillance footage from the YMCA at 501 N. Shortridge Road showed Kirsten walking alone in the parking lot, her last known sighting. She appeared to be walking calmly, but after that, she seemingly vanished from the face of the Earth.
While the footage provides us with a glimpse of her movements, it also introduces one of the most perplexing aspects of her disappearance: a 30-minute gap in the video surveillance that could have given investigators critical information.
The Missing Surveillance: 30 Minutes of Disappearing Evidence
The fact that the surveillance footage cuts off for a critical 30-minute period is an unusual and highly frustrating development. Just as
Kirsten’s last known moments were being captured, the video surveillance abruptly fails, and a half-hour window goes unaccounted for. Imagine the significance of what that could mean: In those 30 minutes, anything could have happened.
Could Kirsten have been approached by someone during this time?
Did she leave the area, or was there a struggle? Unfortunately, with no video evidence to shed light on these questions, investigators have been left with nothing but speculation.
What makes this 30-minute gap even more suspicious is the fact that the security system at the YMCA was known to have malfunctioned at the time. The cameras that could have followed Kirsten’s next steps failed, and no further footage was recorded.

For Kirsten's family, the silence is deafening. With no body, no witnesses, and no clear answers, they continue to search for the truth, hoping that someone will come forward with information that could lead them to her.
